Limited guide data

Hi,

My Tivo has been working fine since setup about 1 year ago but recently is only retrieving guide data up to 14 April (4 days from now). Daily calls are successful. Does anyone have any idea what my problem may be?

I'd suggest you logon to the AltEPG Account Management and examine the server logs for your TiVo. They will tell you what the server thinks you have downloaded and may offer some clues about any problems. You'll find the account management here

I've taken a look and cannot see anything obvious - but don't really know what I'm looking for.

Those logs look OK to me and seem to confirm your TiVo is downloading the data OK, which suggests the problem is something on the TiVo itself. Try unplugging the TiVo from the mains for a few minutes then plug back in and give it a day to see if it sorts itself out.

You could try a "Clear Download Logs" in the AltEPG Account Management - this will force the TiVo to download all the guide data again. It might also be worth changing the "Programme Guide" setting from "Standard" to "TMS-ID" at the same time, see viewtopic.php?f=16&t=1346 for what this does.

If that fails and you eventually run out of Guide data try re-running Guided setup.

I don't know if You did a "Clear and Delete Programme Data & To Do List" when you first switched to using AltEPG, see viewtopic.php?f=8&t=670#A134 If you didn't it may be your TiVo has a mixture of old and new data and that is causing a problem. If you didn't do this Clear and Delete then as a last resort you could try it now, although it does mean losing all your Season Passes, Thumbs Data etc so I really mean as a last resort.

Many thanks again.

Not sure what happened, but after many days of not refreshing the guide data even after successful calls, I checked it today and it had received a network error message in the Tivo messages and then it had subsequently performed a successful download and has data up to 22nd April. This is without me trying any of your suggestions. So... if someone has waved a magic wand then Thank You. :-).

aaarg - I thought it was fixed - now it gets weirder !

If i press live TV and review the epg, I now have data up to 22nd April, however I cannot search for a programme past 12 April and my to do list is remarkably small.

If I select a programme from the epg (e.g. Dr Who from next Sat) and then select "season pass" and "view upcoming episodes" it reports there are none, despite there being several visible in the epg.

A reboot hasn't helped.

I'll start trying your suggestions above.

Hi,

First thing I tried was to verify ownership - followed by a daily call. Now it all seems to be working ok. I haven't cleared logs, or changed to TMSID yet.

It might just be you tried to search too soon. The TiVo does take a while to index the new data after it downloads it and searches won't find things until indexing is complete. If in doubt leave the TiVo alone for a few hours then try the search again.

ah - that explains it.

Now that its running ok again I'd like to use the TmsID feature. I have verified ownership but the feature drop down on the admin page is still greyed out. Do you know if it's only available on certain builds?

As far as I know TMS-ID should be available to all builds after you have verified ownership. What does Registration Status on the admin page say? If you have verified ownership successfully it should read "3: Registered, Full Service".
