Season Pass that doesnt record

Postby The maverick » Thu Apr 17, 2014 5:34 pm

I have a season pass to BBC Scotland's 'Landward' but despite deleting it and resubmitting it it still records something else (Dave I think). Any suggestions how I can record it? All other recordings come in fine.

Hi, please can you let us know the following so we can troubleshoot the issue:

Which platform are you on, Freeview, Sky etc?
What does Tivo think it has recorded? (what's the name and description in Now Playing?)
When you play the start of the programme do you see the set top box change channels, any errors etc?
Do you have other season passes for BBC2SD - do they work correctly?

Thanks,

Steve

Sky. Tivo said it had recorded Landward the desired programme. Have deleted now so cant answer the next questions but I do record Beechgrove Garden on BBC2 Scotland and that comes in fine.

Take a look at the Recorded History (top option in the To Do List). If you scroll upwards the entry for Landward should still be there. Press select on it and the top line will show the programme title, episode name, date, channel number and callsign.

You should have the channel number as 970 and the call sign as BBC2S.

By To Do list do you mean the one via the telly or via the PC? I cant see recorded history mentioned (don't recall ever looking in the to do list).

OKI found it - it said another season pass had priority so I deleted that season pass and hopefully we're good for next time.

Ok. Moved to General, this wasn't an issue with the guide data.

This season pass for Landward on BBC 2 Scotland still doesn't record. It shows in Now Playing but nothing is recorded. It doesn't show up in recording history ( this is for the pas 2 weeks).

Can you explain a little more what you mean by "It shows in Now Playing but nothing is recorded"? When you play the programme what do you see?

The bottom line was black and when you try and play it you are asked if you want to delete or keep it but there's nothing there. However I have now discovered that 15 more programmes that came in whilst we were away were all the same so I have rebooted.

That's a hardware recording fault. It always happened with about 1 in 500 recordings on my TiVo.

If it's happening with every single instance of the same programme, that points to the channel number being wrong in the lineup and/or the STB not delivering a video signal perhaps. You'd need to check that Live TV works for that station, and the lineup is correct (ie station number in lineup vs STB). HTH

[edit: see later post - could be STB going into Standby]

Many STBs turn themselves off when not used for a while and might not turn themselves on again when sent the channel change signal. Check its not turning itself off.

How would I check that?

I am still having probs with recording Landward BBC 2 Scotland. The 20/4 recording came in as an American Civil War film - headed up as Landward in now playing with no entry showing in recording history.

When you play the programme do you see the set top box try to change channels?
