Tivo freezes during recording shows

Just recently my Tivo has been freezing during recording shows.
I have deleted plenty of old recordings to see if this helps but it hasnt. The
Tivo doesnt seem to freeze whilst watching recordings or viewing the list
of recordings. Any idea how to rectify this? Many thanks
