3x PVR10UK + Silicon Dust 512 Ethernet Cache card TurboNZet

Postby Toff » Wed Oct 16, 2019 10:08 pm

Hello,

I'm having 10 years worth of IT hoarding collected by a WEEE recycler shortly - I have some tasty PVR-10uk equipment which I'm trying to find a new home for (as opposed to it being recycled!)

200GB PVR-10Uk with Silicon Dust 512MB cache card with ethernet.
2 more bare-bones PVR-10UKs and a TurboNzet Ethernet card.

Please let me know if you're interested.

Regards
Al

Hi,
Whereabouts are you located?

At the very least don't let the cache/ethernet cards go for recycling. Someone here would love them I'm sure.

Hi,

I'm located in Manchester.

I have put the TiVo equipment on eBay in the hope of reaching more enthusiasts.

Am I allowed to post a link here or is that against the forum rules?

Al

Now sold - for pennies - but better than sending it to the WEEE recyclers :D

Yeah it's a numbers game. Thomson built these things too well, and apart from the power supplies these things go on for ever. So we've still got a couple of thousand units in circulation but only a few hundred of us left using them. I expect everyone has at least 2 units (and many of us have *ahem* a few more than that).

It's good that you managed to keep the parts in circulation. If you feel able to strip the power supplies out of the other two before they get recycled then someone might like those as spares.

Hi,

Thanks for your reply. I was just about to sling them on the scrap heap this morning.. but on your advice, I have stripped out the power supplies.

When I plugged power into the two PVR10UKs with no hard disk; the fans spun-up and the front green light illuminated - but nothing appeared on the TV (no video source).

Based on the description above - would you say the power supplies are functional (Is that normal for a TiVo with no HDD to show no video output?)

Thanks in advance
Al

Thanks.

Do you think it would be best to list them on eBay or find someone who's interested on here?

Ultimately - I don't want any money for them, I'd just like to cover the postage & find them a new home...

Regards
Al.
