Still High demand for used Tivos

Postby Alek » Fri Feb 18, 2011 6:45 pm

I wanted a spare Tivo for when we get to the testing stage. And bid £1.05 on "an auction site"

I was outbid in the last few seconds of the auction, Someone spent £1.25 and it didn't even have a remote.

You probably outbid me.

I bid 99p on a TiVo on eBay to save it from being scrapped, and I got outbid... (I don't mind, I didnt' really want it as I already have a spare)

Well I ain't going to bid against you.

I would have liked one to help out when testing time comes but anything + £15 delivery is ample to pay.

I was thinking of getting this one as I live in Suffolk...

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... 970wt_1135

Would be able to use as a Dev box, so it wouldn't matter about the sound problems.

Also, the larger hard drive would be a benefit as my current unit only has a standard one (I'll swap them, and put the smaller into the Dev)

Any thoughts? Seems a bit crappy as the auction is clearly trying to get rid of it, and putting "lifetime subscription" in the title but then "while still available" right at the bottom. Also, kinda glosses over the sound problems. It's not how I'd go about selling on eBay, but in this case it doesn't matter.

The sound problem is not one of the usual problems where-by the sound processor fails to initialise properly, so i would value it as an unusable box for general use but ok for testing!
If it ends up going for pounds and you can collect to avoid the £15 shipping fee, it's gonna be worth it for the spare remotes I guess :-)
Keeping the dream alive.

Is anybody else bidding on http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=290536674491 ? I don't want to start a bidding war!

Outbid. Sold for £16, with free P&P. Given most are charging £15 for that, that puts the value of the TiVo at £1 ... Still rather more than I was prepared to risk on a zero-feedback new seller, especially when it's probably less than they would have been expecting.

Just a Buyer Beware to anyone thinking of getting one to use as a normal TiVo until June 1.

There are a few dubious ones out there that are showing Account status - 3 in the eBay listing. Then when you buy one and turn it on...hey presto...the status is actually Account closed - 8. DAMHIKT.

I've not bothered to try yet but I'm guessing that if you try and get the EPG then you will get nowhere....guided setup will fail etc.
