New Supported Freeview STB?

Postby millimole » Mon Mar 21, 2011 8:16 pm

I've decided to stick with my Tivo, but want to run it with a Freeview STB.
I've bid for several, apparently supported, boxes on fleebay, but am fed up with being outbid - and I'm not paying silly money for a second hand box.
I'm happy to pay the going rate for a new box - but what is available off the shelf that Tivo does currently support?
Any ideas?

These are the only ones which we know are supported - which isn't to say that others won't work but you would be going into "new frontier" territory, so it would be hit or miss I'm afraid :(

p.s. yes I agree, £41.72 (+£6) for a D800U is silly money! :(
There are another 11 on fleece-u-bay at the mo, so you might get lucky. Just make sure you get a remote control and don't believe anyone who says you can control it without one (trust me, I know!).

Will the tech team be able to modify this as well as the epg, dial up etc ?

It's worth remembering that many existing (older) FreeView STBs will stop working shorty, as various MUXs get upgraded.

This includes killing my stalwart Pace/MediaHighway/OnDigital box - 12+ years and still going strong, for now :?

IIRC, Crystal Palace is going from 2k to 8k in Spring 2012 - obviously others will be following a different schedule.

I've been out of the industry for a few years now, so others may be better placed to comment further...

My OnDigital Nokia Mediamaster died shortly after we went all-digital up here in GranadaLand. Pity, it was still doing sterling work up until then..
